Junior birds will be entered in and judged in the Open Show and the Junior Champions will be selected from the appropriate classes. The coop tags will be marked to indicate the entry is by a Junior Exhibitor.\n5. All birds must be cooped in by 9:00AM\, Saturday November 20th. Judging will begin promptly at 9:00AM.\n6. Entries must be postmarked by November 1st\, 2022.\n7. Entry Fee is $6.00 per bird. Double cooping will be available for LARGE FOWL & LARGE DUCKS ONLY at $12.00 per bird. Fee covers both shows. Entries will be judged through 5th place. VPBA is only responsible for awards given by our club. Additional awards will be posted at the show as necessary.\n14. Exhibitors may or may not be permitted in the aisle where the judging is being conducted at the discretion of the Judge and the Show Committee.\n15. Judging will be done according to the A.P.A. Standard of Perfection and the A.B.A. Bantam Standard.\n16. No person except the exhibitor\, the Judge\, or the Show Management shall handle or feed any bird without expressed permission of the exhibitor.\n17. The VPBA Show Committee will use every precaution to guard against accident\, mistake\, loss or damage\, but will not be responsible should any occur.\n18. No bird shall be removed from the show hall without the expressed permission of the Show Superintendent.\n19. Exhibitors making entries and failing to exhibit will automatically forfeit all fees paid for such entries\, unless the secretary is notified before the closing date of entries.\n20. All protests must be made in writing to the Superintendent before the Judges leave the floor. A $25.00 deposit must accompany all protests.\n21. Show management will decide any items or questions not covered.\n22. VPBA will provide a sale area outside the show hall for tailgate sales. Spaces are available for $15.00 a space. You can send your sale space fee along with your entry or pay at the show. You will receive your tailgate receipt the day of the show.\nJunior Show Specifics\nAll Junior Show entries are subject to the same rules and regulations as the open show as well\nas the following guidelines.\n1. Please specify at the top of the entry form JUNIOR ENTRY; please include exhibitor’s age at the time of show. Otherwise birds will be entered in the open show and cannot be changed at\nthe show!\n2. Eligibility to show as a Junior is limited to exhibitors between the ages of 5-18 years old.\n3. Entry Fee is $6.00 per bird. Double cooping will be available for LARGE FOWL & LARGE DUCKS ONLY at $8.00 per bird.\n4. All Junior exhibitors are solely responsible for cooping and grooming their own bird.\n5. Junior exhibitors are required to handle their own birds.\n6. Junior exhibitors must be present to receive any awards they may win.\n7. There is no requirement to have a bird in the show in order to participate in Junior Showmanship\, however you should have a bird available to bring before the judge in order to show proper handling techniques and as a reference to answer general questions.\nTesting Requirements\n***Note: Testing requirements apply to ALL BIRDS including all sale birds.***\nOut of State Exhibitors:\n1. All proceeds from the auction will go to the VPBA and because the intent is to provide new fanciers or current breeders looking to expand their breeding programs with an opportunity to acquire quality birds we will set a minimum bid on all birds. The minimum bids will be a reasonable starting point for the quality we will provide in the auction.\nRaffle Table\nWe will also have a Raffle table chock full of items. Proceeds from the Raffle Table items will go toward VPBA to offset the cost of the show. You will definitely be tempted to try your luck at winning your favorite item or items. We will accept donations to the raffle the day of the\nshow.\nPoultry Supplies\nWe will also have Peter Brown from First State Veterinary Supply on site offering poultry supplies for your shopping convenience.\nFood\nA local food truck will be conveniently located next to the show hall. You can count on hamburgers\, hotdogs\, fries\, sodas\, and water. Your standard concession items will be available.\nIf that doesn’t work for you\, there are plenty of places to eat in Ashland\, VA just a few miles from the show hall.\nShow Set-up\nFor all of our Club members and volunteers\, we will be setting up the show on Friday the 19th of November starting at 9:00 a.m. Lunch will be provided and we’d like to have as much help as possible to make set up as easy as possible.\nSale Area\nThis year we are happy to announce that we will again offer a tailgate sales area. The same testing requirements apply to the sale area birds. Pullorum and Avian Influenza paperwork will be checked. Refer to the testing requirements above. DESCRIPTION:On behalf of the Iowa State Fair\, I would like to personally invite you to show your poultry at the 2022 Iowa State Fair. We are beyond excited that we are able to move forward with the poultry show this year and are also happy to announce a few upgrades to the poultry building. We were able to enhance electricity within our poultry building and additionally were able to upgrade water access so that our exhibitors have easier access to the necessities needed while attending the fair. \nIn order to enter your poultry in the Iowa State Fair visit www.iowastatefair.org and click the Participate tab.  Next\, select Enter Contest and Competitions and from here you will be able to go to Open Class entry. Choose Poultry from the drop down menu in the middle of the page.  The deadline for Open Class Poultry is July 14th.
